Detail of a totem pole presented by Kwakiutl carver Mungo Martin to Lord Alexander, Governor General of Canada from 1946 to 1952. Located on the grounds of Rideau Hall.
Like the others, I like the fall colors behind the first image. However, I am very drawn to the second image, liking the detail and texture you have captured in the totem.
Wolf, it’s a single totem standing 12-15 feet tall. My two images show the top and bottom of the pole. In between there are another 2-3 figures. I wish I knew more about the symbolism, but couldn’t find any reference.

Lovely shots, the autumn colours make a very pleasing background in the first shot. And I liked the aged-feel and texture in the second one.

Nice detail work Julie = I have always been fascinated by totem poles – there was one at Epcot Canada that was very cool.

OOH! I knew you’d have some really great stuff from your visit!
I love the first one because of the fall colors you got in the background!

Julie,
Those are awsome. The first one looks huge or is that just the angle you shot it at?
