One of my pleasures at the cottage is spending the hour or so just after dawn alone on the dock. While I always hope for a foggy morning , I don’t always get it. This morning — our last of the summer — I was rewarded with this view and the priceless experience of watching the lake emerge from the fog.

Sauna Anyone?

The Finnish sauna at the cottage is cedar-lined and complete with a wood-fired stove and hot sauna rocks. The lake is just a short sprint through the woods for a cooling plunge afterwards. Built many years after the cottage, it’s appearance isn’t traditionally Finnish but mimics the design of the cottage.
