Young Hamish has seemingly decided that the lake presents grave threats to the family he has taken a doggy oath to protect.  He attacks the little waves as they roll onto the beach and barks with fury at waterskiers, boats, and ducks.  This morning was quiet and calm so he was able to enjoy a little peace.

One of my pleasures at the cottage is spending the hour or so just after dawn alone on the dock.  While I always hope for a foggy morning , I don’t always get it.  This morning — our last of the summer — I was rewarded with this view and the priceless experience of watching the lake emerge from the fog.
